Minister of Labor Meets with Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights in Cambodia

 


(Phnom Penh): On the afternoon of March 16, 2022, HE Dr. Ith Sam Heng, Minister of Labor and Vocational Training, met with Mr. Vitith Montabun, Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Cambodia through the Microsoft Working Group. In the presence of HE An Sok Khoeun, Ambassador and Representative of the Permanent Mission of Cambodia to the United Nations.


 The purpose of this meeting is to inform you of the methods and priorities of the Special Rapporteur's mandate and to gather inputs for providing oral updates on Cambodia. On that occasion, the two sides discussed to make some updates on the promotion of human rights and employment and some issues that could further enhance cooperation.


 The Minister briefed on Cambodia's efforts to implement the ILO International Convention on Human Rights, which Cambodia has ratified in 13 ILO conventions, including eight core conventions. Incorporated into the Constitution, laws and regulations related to the field of employment and vocational training, working conditions in Cambodia are well implemented in accordance with labor law and international labor code.
