International Labor Organization in Cambodia, Laos and Thailand, met to discuss work related to the progress of cooperation and consideration of new projects.
May 4, 2022, HE Dr. Ith Sam Heng, Minister of Labor and Vocational Training, received Mr. Grambergley, Director of the International Labor Organization of Cambodia, Laos and Thailand, to discuss work related to the progress of cooperation and Think of new projects together. Although the Minister has not met directly with Gramberg in the past two years, the cooperative relationship between the two sides has continued.
The Director General of the International Labor Organization in Cambodia, Laos and Thailand is pleased to be able to travel from Bangkok, Kingdom of Thailand to meet directly with the Minister and also highly appreciated the efforts of the Royal Government of Cambodia as well. The Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, which has prevented the spread of Kovid-19, especially in factories, has reopened and improved its operations.
Despite the Kovid-19 crisis, projects within the Cambodia-ILO cooperation have borne fruit. With this, Mr. Grembergly thanked Cambodia for receiving the direct mission of ILO and the report will be provided to Cambodia at the end of May. Regarding the Arbitration Council, both sides agreed to further improve the project by providing legal support for the Arbitration Council to maintain its sustainability while maintaining the independence, efficiency and transparency of the informal settlement mechanism. The court goes ahead.
The ILO side proposed a model for the informal economy, focusing on priority sectors such as tourism and services and agro-industry, to be registered with the UN. His Excellency the Minister agreed to take this initiative by looking at the SME policy of the Royal Government in order to have the capacity to turn the informal economy into a system economy.
In relation to the digital society, TVET has built capacity and skills training in response to government digital policies. The Minister requested the ILO to provide technical assistance and training to relevant officials to understand the digital society and integrate it into TVET training. Mr Gregberg said the ILO was ready to provide technical assistance to address the issue and continue to work with the ministry.
